 FOUNDATION
In 1994, Frank Böckmann, Maurizio D'Alberto and Marco Zingg founded the innovative new company DT Swiss AG following a management buyout from the Biel-based "Vereinte Drahtwerke". The core business of this still small company was the manufacturing and distribution of spokes. Over the years, a unique cold-forging process, cutting-edge machinery and modern corporate structures helped DT Swiss evolve into a globally recognized manufacturer of high-quality bicycle spokes. Currently DT Swiss is owned and managed by Frank Böckmann and Maurizio D’Alberto.
VISION
Driven by the vision of becoming a worldwide known manufacturer of bicycle components, DT Swiss expanded its product range over the years. Today DT Swiss has established itself as a leading manufacturer of spokes, nipples, hubs, rims, complete wheels as well as suspension systems.
PHILOSOPHY
The bicycle industry is a global sporting and competitive environmental with rapid development. New trends, technical innovations and very high quality requirements are the key challenges inherent in new product design. Beside the use of innovative materials and advanced manufacturing processes the feedback from pro riders across all disciplines provide inspiration for new product developments. A passion for cycling filters through to the development process, driving the creation of products capable of meeting the demands of both amateur and professional riders.
SUBSIDIARIES
The growing product portfolio has been accompanied by investments in new production facilities. Around 500 employees develop, produce and market top-class products all over the world. In addition to the company's headquarters in Biel, it also has a network of production and sales sites in Germany, Poland, France, the USA and Taiwan. The same machines as in Switzerland are used at all sites in order to guarantee the consistency of high production standard and traditional Swiss quality.
Switzerland: Biel/Bienne
SWITZERLAND: BIEL/BIENNE
Since its establishment over 20 years ago, this small company of around 30 people in the Swiss city of Biel has grown to become a globally active group. In 2011, the company moved into new premises in Biel's industrial estate. These modern offices and spacious production facilities offer ideal conditions for the development, production and marketing of high-quality products. It is here at head office that the various strands of the group's global activities come together and are coordinated.
USA: Grand Junction and Temecula
USA: GRAND JUNCTION AND TEMECULA
The DT Swiss Inc. subsidiary in Grand Junction, Colorado, USA is opened in 1996. A dedicated spoke production facility and a sales and marketing team provide the company with a foothold in the important North American market. In several steps the facilities have expanded and hold today their own wheel-building departement and a Service Center. In 2014, DT Swiss USA strengthens its sales team and opens an additional site in Temecula, California.
Taiwan: Taichung
TAIWAN: TAICHUNG
The opening of a new subsidiary in Taiwan in 2005, the DT Swiss Asia Ltd., is an important strategic step to strengthen the groups presence in the South-East Asian market, where a significant proportion of the world's bicycles are produced. To achieve greater flexibility and ensure short delivery times, a dedicated spoke production facility goes into operation in 2010. The Taichung production site very quickly expands to produce further DT Swiss products, as well as wheel-building and a service center for the Asian market.
Poland: Oborniki
POLAND: OBORNIKI
DT Swiss Polska Sp, z o.o. was founded in 2007 with the aim of establishing a competitive production site within the EU. In 2010, this modern plant expands with the integration of a European Service Center. DT Swiss Polska very soon becomes an important factor in the DT Swiss group's success. To keep pace with the growing demand, the existing building is enlarged once more in 2016 and offers additional production capacity.
France: Le Bar-sur-Loup

In 2007, the DT Swiss Group acquires a substantial share of its former wholesaler in France and creates a new subsidiary, DT Swiss France SAS, serving the French, Spanish and Portuguese markets. With the continuously growing product portfolio and market demand for short delivery terms the company grows out of its old site. In the fall of 2015, the subsidiary moves into spacious new premises, complete with a modern Service Center, showroom, warehouse and logistics facilities, as well as administration and management offices.
Germany: Rheda-Wiedenbrück
GERMANY: RHEDA-WIEDENBRÜCK
In 2010, DT Swiss founds another company located in the center of Europe - DT Swiss Deutschland GmbH. From this North-Rhine Westphalia site, a dedicated sales- and marketing-team supports European customers. In 2013, the site expands further and a Service Center is launched for the German market. The new, enlarged premises offer the ideal infrastructure for workshops which are held here regularly for retailer-clinics.

Spokes
SPOKES
Even before the foundation of DT Swiss AG, the initials DT were the synonym for top-quality Swiss spokes. Using various processes developed in-house, DT Swiss produces and supplies millions of spokes to the global market each year.
Hubs
HUBS
In 1995 DT Swiss acquired the exclusive license for the "Hügi Ratchet System technology" and starts to manufacture and distribute its own hubs. A complete line of hubs for road bikes and mountain bikes is introduced to the market.
Nipples
NIPPLES
Reflecting the importance of a strong spoke-nipple connection for a wheel's durability, DT Swiss invested in top-quality nipples and innovative technologies. In 1999, DT Swiss launched a whole range of brass and aluminum nipples in different dimensions and colors.
Shocks
SHOCKS
The production of the first DT Swiss shock in 2001 represented another important milestone in the development of the product portfolio and the first step in becoming a supplier of suspension systems.. Throughout the company's history, its products have been distinguished by their innovative technology and Swiss precision.
Rims
RIMS
Following an intense development and testing phase, the group's first rims "rolled off" the production line in its dedicated new facility in 2003. It produces a wide selection of rim profile shapes and widths for wheels across all disciplines.
Wheels
WHEELS
Since 2004 DT Swiss produces wheels with its own components spokes, nipples, hubs and rims and begins its own wheel-building program. DT Swiss supplies the market with a constantly growing product range and an huge variety of system-wheels for all cycling disciplines.
Forks

The range was complemented in 2008 with the addition of suspension forks. An in-house development department and a new production area provide the ideal infrastructure to support an innovative product portfolio. |
